Many times an artist is quite alone in his or her studio. In contrast, completing a commission work is an interactive, collaborative process that involves effective communication, problem solving and a great commitment to succeed.
I believe every bit of research and preparation, every craftsman or CEO involved, becomes part of the artistic process which is reflected in the finished work.
I liken the experience to that of being the conductor of a symphony orchestra. Like the conductor, I must assemble a select group of experts—foundry workers, engineers, carpenters or landscapers—who under my direction enable me to achieve my goal of a lasting and beautiful work of art. |
